Established his own company "JAN WELVAERT" in 1989.
In 1990 he showed his first collection at the British Designer Show with great success.
Jan Welvaert has opened his first concept store in Ajuinlei 14, 9000 Ghent in 2005
The company profiled itself first mainly towards London and during the first two years targeted UK, US clientele, but changed to Paris later on, to show its collections.
Jan Welvaert produces small productions of high quality design and exports about 85% of his output to countries like Germany, France, Japan and Italy.
He is the last designer having catwalks in Belgium; all other designers have gone to Paris or Milano.
It's important to know that the company has a policy of selling comfort, quality garments with a timeless feel to it. Fabrics are very important!
